Trooper Recovering, ISP Releases Video of Shooting


Cristobal Santana, 37, of Chicago, fired more than 10 shots hitting Trooper Chapman-Green several times and striking him repeatedly, causing facial fractures, a skull fracture, and a brain bleed.

Responding officers gave medical aid on the scene until first responders transported the officer to a local hospital.


Santana is facing two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, one count of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm to a Police Officer, one count of Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, and one count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Santana was also wanted in connection with a homicide occurring recently in Chicago. He is suspected of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend, a special education teacher on October 22.
