An investigation into the shooting that occurred at The Cove on May 6, 2024, conducted by Detectives from the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office led to the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office issuing an arrest warrant for Cody T. Desilva, a 29-year-old Springfield resident.
On Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 10:23am, Cody T. Desilva was arrested by the Southern Illinois Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force at a motel in Troy, Illinois.
Desilva has been charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon in Sangamon County and faces additional felony charges in Madison County. Desilva is currently in custody at the Madison County Jail

At approximately 1:27 am on the morning of May 6, 2024, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at The Cove, 1616 North Dirksen Parkway, in Springfield. The caller stated a bouncer at the bar had just been shot in the parking lot.
Deputies arrived and found the victim, a Springfield man in his 30’s, was shot in the torso. The victim was able to tell deputies he confronted some individuals about loitering in the parking lot. When he turned away from the subjects, he heard shots and realized he had been hit. The victim was transported to Springfield Memorial Hospital, treated for a minor gunshot wound to the hip, and released.
