Springfield's American Business Club Celebrates Century of Service

The American Business Club of Springfield is gearing up to celebrate a century of service to the local community with a weekend full of festivities, marking its 100th anniversary. Founded on January 10, 1925, the club has grown to become the largest chapter of AMBUCS, a national community service organization, blending charitable efforts with a strong sense of camaraderie.

The club's Legacy Weekend will kick off on Thursday, January 9, 2025, with the Centennial Contributions Luncheon. The event will highlight the club's history of making a positive impact in Springfield, which has raised millions of dollars for local causes over the years. This will be followed by the Red Carpet History Reception on Friday, January 10, where club members and invited guests will gather to commemorate the club's remarkable journey and accomplishments.

The main event will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2025, with the highly anticipated Gala Gala—a celebration so nice, they named it twice. This elegant, black-tie optional event will include a pregame Speakeasy, a delicious catered dinner, and a full-on rock show/dance party, ensuring an unforgettable night. The Gala Gala will be a fun-filled tribute to the club's century of service, held one hundred years and a day after the original dinner marking the awarding of Springfield’s charter as a chapter of the National Association of American Business Clubs.

“The American Business Club has always been driven by the mission to create a better community,” said the club’s Centennial Committee. “Over the past 100 years, we’ve dedicated ourselves to local causes and making Springfield a better place to live. This weekend is not only about celebrating our legacy, but about giving back to the community that has supported us.”

As part of the Legacy Weekend, the club is inviting local non-profits to submit requests for charitable projects to be funded, continuing its tradition of making a significant difference in Springfield. The club hopes to add to the over $5 million it has already donated to local causes, further solidifying its commitment to community service.

Throughout the year, the club has been building up to this milestone celebration with various events, including birthday parties, golf outings, and steak nights. The American Business Club is also offering sponsorship opportunities for those wishing to show their support for the club’s ongoing mission.

The weekend’s events will showcase the strong ties that the American Business Club has with Springfield’s business and civic communities, with members sharing their personal stories of how the club has impacted their lives. Four members will tell their stories in a professionally produced video by Storyteller Studios, celebrating the club’s rich history and contributions.

The American Business Club invites the public to join in the Centennial Celebration, whether by sponsoring the events or simply attending the Gala Gala to enjoy the festivities. For more information on how to get involved or purchase tickets, visit the event website at www.springfieldabc100.com.
