Springfield DMV Reopens

Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias announced that the Driver and Motor Vehicle Facility (DMV) located at 316 N. Klein St. in Springfield has officially reopened.

The facility had been closed since September 29, 2023 for renovation, including remodeling and a complete overhaul of the plumbing system. The reopening is ahead of the anticipated schedule, initially expected later this month.

“The Springfield Klein and Mason DMV facility is now ready to serve Illinoisans with a fresh face and renewed services,” Giannoulias said. “The facility team is excited to assist residents with all their Secretary of State-related needs.”

The Klein and Mason DMV, located at 316 N Klein St., is walk-in facility. Its hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This “no-appointment,” walk-in facility offers the following Driver and Motor Vehicle Services: driver’s licenses and state identification cards; REAL IDs; vehicle registration stickers; in-car driving tests; organ and tissue donor registration; and voter registration.

Giannoulias is encouraging the public to conduct business online at ilsos.gov whenever possible. His office has expanded online services, which include purchasing license plate stickers, obtaining a duplicate driver’s license (when lost or stolen), ordering a driver record or renewing driver’s licenses and ID cards for those who qualify.
