Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) Psychology Professor Rebecca Miller has been named the 2025 Outstanding Distance Educator by the Instructional Technology Council (ITC). The award was presented during ITC’s annual conference, recently held in Charleston, South Carolina.

The Outstanding Distance Educator Award is given each year to an educator who demonstrates exceptional dedication to online teaching, student engagement, and innovative use of technology to enhance learning.

Miller has been teaching online classes at LLCC for eight years, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds. "As a community college professor, Rebecca recognizes that her students come from varied backgrounds with different learning needs, experiences, and challenges,” said Becky Parton, dean of LLCC Academic Innovation and eLearning. "She actively promotes an inclusive atmosphere where every student feels valued and supported."

Beyond her work in the virtual classroom, Miller shares her expertise with colleagues through professional development workshops and serves as a Quality Matters ambassador, focusing on online course design. "Professor Miller’s commitment to student success and her innovative approach to online education demonstrates the qualities celebrated by this award," Parton added.

ITC, an affiliated council of the American Association of Community Colleges, is a leader in advancing distance education and online learning. The organization provides professional development, advocacy, and networking opportunities while promoting innovation and collaboration among educators.

LLCC has been offering online courses for nearly 30 years, with 30 degree and certificate programs available entirely online. More information about LLCC’s online learning options can be found at www.llcc.edu/online.
