Investigation Underway After Homicide in Springfield

Authorities are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred early Monday morning in Springfield.
On April 7, 2025, at approximately 1:04 a.m., the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls reporting a disturbance and gunshots in the 800 block of West Lenox. Deputies, along with multiple agencies, responded to the scene and located a white male victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by ambulance to Springfield Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 1:46 a.m.
Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, identified the victim as 19-year-old Camren White of Stonington, Illinois. An autopsy conducted later that day confirmed that White died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Detectives continue to follow leads and are asking for the public’s help. The Sheriff’s Office is asking residents in the area who have doorbell or home security cameras to review their footage from between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. on April 7.
